Hiking in the Kaunertal
Whether it’s leisurely walks in the valley, family-friendly routes or high-alpine summit tours to one of the region’s majestic three-thousand-metre peaks, the Kaunertal boasts a varied network of over 250 kilometres of marked hiking trails to suit every fitness level. Savour home-made delicacies at rustic mountain huts and enjoy great panoramic views that will linger in your memory.



Our tip: you can set off on foot directly from Hotel Feichtnerhof to the Verpeilhütte, for example. Or you can take part in a guided hike organised by Kaunertal Tourist Board.
Kaunertal adventure circuit
A fascinating family circuit awaits you just steps from the hotel. Varied, close to nature and full of discoveries – the Kaunertal adventure circuit is a captivating trail. Beginning and ending at Quellalpin, the route winds through the dramatic Verpeilschlucht gorge to the Adlerblick and Bergwerksblick viewpoints, before following the historic Knappensteig trail back to the village centre of Feichten. A nature experience for all ages!

Whether you’ve just returned from a tour in the mountains or are enjoying a leisurely holiday, water enthusiasts will find plenty to love in the Kaunertal: at the nearby natural swimming lake in Ried, the outdoor pool in Prutz or the Quellalpin Kaunertal. A perfect blend of relaxation and action – for playful water lovers and discerning leisure seekers alike.

Mountaineering and climbing
The Kaunertal is a genuine haven for those who wish to embrace mountaineering and climbing during their holiday. The region boasts several three-thousand-metre peaks, including the Weißseespitze (3,518 m) – a striking and rewarding destination for seasoned alpinists. .
For sport climbing enthusiasts, the Kaunertal offers a range of crags, including the Verpeilschlucht crag and two via ferratas – Keilschrofen and Seitwand – situated directly in Feichten and easily accessible on foot. Each features routes of varying difficulty.



For less experienced climbers and families, the indoor bouldering gym at Quellalpin is an ideal option for less favourable weather conditions.
Summer at 2,750 metres
The Kaunertal Glacier
In summer, the Kaunertal Glacier reveals its tranquil, majestic side. Travelling along the Panorama Road is an experience in itself: 29 hairpin bends, six distinct climate zones and breathtaking views accompany you on the ascent. At the summit, you’ll find a nature trail and a modern, accessible viewing platform offering sweeping views that stretch as far as the Ortler. Even in July, patches of snow often linger there.

Guided glacier hikes are also available, led by experienced mountain guides who ensure your safety as you explore the high alpine terrain.

Naturpark Kaunergrat
The start of Naturpark Kaunergrat – a protected landscape of remarkable diversity – lies just a few minutes from the hotel. Between glaciers and dry slopes, stone pine forests and moors, the Kaunergrat Nature Park invites you to explore the full spectrum of Alpine habitats.
Particularly worth a visit: the Nature Park Visitor Centre with its educational exhibition and the “Gacher Blick” viewing platform, which offers incredible views across the entire Upper Inn Valley. From there, accessible themed trails, such as the Piller Moor circular trail and the Kaltenbrunn moor nature trail guide visitors through a captivating landscape.
