Holidays in harmony with nature
Sustainability at the Feichtnerhof & in the Kaunertal
Nature is our sanctuary, our source of inspiration, our home – and that’s why we do everything we can to protect and preserve it. We take our social responsibility seriously and strive to embed the principles of sustainability into every decision we make.
Since July 2025, we’ve proudly become the first hotel in the Oberes Gericht region to be awarded the Austrian Ecolabel – a milestone that brings us immense pride.

We take various measures to protect the nature that surrounds us
da kommt’s her (where it comes from)
As the sole member in our region, we are proud to be part of the Tirol-wide initiative #dakommtsher. We place great importance on using regional products and knowing exactly where they come from: for our region and our guests.
Regionality & short distances
Many of our products are sourced directly from alpine pasture farms, local farmers and small regional traders – including cheese, honey, meat and sausage specialities. We take pride in showcasing these high-quality regional products at our buffet.
We also prioritise seasonal and regional products to help minimise transport distances.
Responsible use of food and cleaning products
Through ongoing dialogue with our kitchen, service and housekeeping teams, we foster awareness around the responsible use of food and cleaning products.
Avoiding waste &
saving water
Avoiding waste is a key priority for us: we’ve significantly reduced our use of plastic and cans, and have largely done away with individual packaging in the restaurant. We have also introduced measures to save water.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
We promote public transport by ensuring that public buses stop right outside our hotel. The ski bus to the glacier is also free of charge and environmentally friendly.
Electric mobility
We drive green. Part of our company fleet has already been converted to electric vehicles. Our electric vehicle charging point, which is available to our guests for a fee, is powered by 100% renewable energy.
Benefits for employees
Some of our employees work for us all year round and benefit from comprehensive social benefits. Flexible working time models support the balance between work and family life.
Local craft businesses
We favour natural, regionally sourced materials for our construction projects and room furnishings, working hand in hand with local craftspeople.
Energy-saving building technology
In recent years, we’ve made significant investments in the thermal renovation of our hotel and the optimisation of our heating systems. In addition, we’ve converted all our lighting to energy-saving LED technology – resulting in a clear and measurable reduction in energy consumption.

Holidays in the Kaunertal – a conscious decision to support nature, sustainability and environmental protection.
Because it’s in our nature
Sustainability in the Kaunertal
For decades, the Kaunertal has embraced a holistic approach to development: one that harmonises ecological stewardship, socio-cultural cohesion and long-term economic sustainability. This development is actively supported and shaped by the local people.
The entire Kaunertal has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel for Destinations. As part of its recognition with the Austrian Ecolabel, the Tirolean tourism region is rolling out a series of targeted measures to promote environmentally friendly tourism development:
Naturpark Kaunergrat
The Naturpark Kaunergrat is a peaceful and protected area at the heart of the region’s sustainable nature experiences.
Electric mobility
Climate-friendly mobility is a top priority here – both for journeys to and from the park and for getting around within the valley itself.
Free hiking buses
Free hiking buses take our guests to the Alpine pastures and other excursion destinations during the warm season. And in winter, the free ski bus stops right outside our hotel.
“Genau mein Klima” (Just My Climate) hiking guide
The “Genau mein Klima” (Just My Climate) hiking guide offers insights into the Kaunertal’s unique climatic features and provides practical tips for planning tours.
“Raus aus Öl” (beyond fossils) initiative
Through the “Raus aus Öl” (beyond fossils) initiative, the tourism association actively supports hosts in transitioning to climate-friendly heating systems.
Kaunertaler Gletscherbahnen
As the region’s largest employer, the Kaunertaler Gletscherbahnen champions an economic approach rooted in responsibility and foresight. Its commitment lies in the careful stewardship of natural resources and the thoughtful application of technology, always with an eye toward meaningful social progress.
